Volunteer gardeners do a variety of tasks from early spring to late fall in the gardens of the nature center where wildflowers, ferns, shrubs, sedges, grasses and trees have been planted to demonstrate what grows naturally in Montgomery County.

Gardeners will turn soil, plant, water, weed, trim, apply natural deer repellent, rake and collect seeds. You will have the opportunity to learn about native plants working with the lead gardener. Our gardeners work with others in small groups or independently at least two hours per week.

Website: www.locustgrovenature.org

Gardening hours are flexible, but consistent. We're looking for applicants who can work at least 2 hours per week, for most weeks between the months of April to October.

Prior gardening experience or a basic knowledge of native plants preferred. Additional training and all equipment provided.

Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners are welcome to apply. Master Naturalists earn Advanced Training Hours.
