For 90 years, The Montgomery County Planning Department has won acclaim for planning innovative solutions to land use and development challenges. We apply smart growth strategies to cultivate vibrant new urban centers and transit-oriented development; forge environmental protections; preserve historic features; and encourage great community design.

To learn more about who we are and what we do, watch this brief video: M-NCPPC, Montgomery Planning.

We believe that diversity in all dimensions of the organization support and bolster the innovative thinking essential to its success. We do not make hiring decisions on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, political affiliation, ideology, or status as a Veteran.

We are seeking an intern who is working towards their graduate degree in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development; or a retiree looking for a challenge!

The HR Volunteer Intern will be working with the Planning Department's Recruiter to help research recruitment resources, assist with developing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategic recruitment plan, and assist in developing a community engagement plan for the Human Resources Unit.

Additionally, the HR Volunteer Intern will be working with the Human Resources Manager assisting with managing the life cycle of a training program. This person will also help create a facilitator database, monitor the Department's projected training goals, assist with the mentoring program and Planning University Leadership Institute, and provide content and monitor the Department's training webpage.

Training will be provided by the Department's Recruiter and the Human Resources Manager.

We will do what we can to provide reasonable accommodation to individuals with disabilities to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us at 301-495-4525 to request accommodation.
