Brookside Gardens is seeking volunteers to help visitors learn about the ecological importance of butterflies and teach them what they can do in their own backyards to help sustain these extraordinary insects.

Open April 1 to September 7, 2026.

Daily shifts from 9am-12pm and 12-3pm.
Minimum of 10 shifts required.

Sunday, April 26 from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Brookside Gardens is celebrating Earth Month on April 26. We will be exploring the science and art of sustainability through child-driven projects, plantings, and activities.

We are seeking engaging volunteers to assist with children's activity booths and interact with the public.

Volunteers must be available for the whole five-hour shift. Lunch included.

Description

Gardener Assistants support an assigned Horticulturist at McCrillis Gardens to help maintain a wide variety of ornamental plants, including weeding, pruning, watering, grooming, staking, deadheading, preparing garden beds, mulching, and general clean-up.

This position provides volunteers the opportunity to work with professional horticulture staff, spend time outdoors, and enhance their own knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.

Minimum age of volunteers: 18
