We are looking for Volunteers interested in becoming trail stewards by performing quarterly trail inspections (plus after major storm events) and light maintenance work on assigned natural surface trail segments in Montgomery Parks. Your trail inspection reports and light maintenance work alerts us of safety and maintenance needs and greatly improves the overall trail network.

Montgomery Park's is hosting its first All-Anglers Fishing Rodeo. Children of all abilities between the ages of 3-15 will be learning to fish at our accessible pond with veteran volunteers to highlight Military Appreciation Month!We need experienced volunteers to help children with physical or developmental disabilities learn how to fish on this special day. Volunteers will also help us with setting up and breaking down the site, greeting participants and directing them to the various activities. We often ask the scout to find a suitable project. Choose a park location that is convenient to you and explore the area to see what amenities you can help create or restore. Park staff will work with you to review your project proposal prior to approval. We are looking for scouts that are good communicators, stick to a schedule and are hardworkers!

Scout troops, corporate groups, student groups, and community organizations can schedule a private group cleanup event. Work with your team to remove trash & litter from our Parks! All groups must follow the current Covid 19 Requirements and Park Safety Guidelines. Group leaders can submit one application on behalf of their group (select "group"). We prefer at least two weeks notice before your cleanup, but as long as you let us know about your project we will do our best to support your efforts! Please keep in mind that groups do need a permit for any group service projects in parks. Want to share your love of history? Become a tour guide at the historic one-room Kingsley Schoolhouse in Little Bennett Regional Park. The school is furnished as it was in the 1920s in a beautiful rural setting. Help visitors learn what school was like in the past! The schoolhouse is open the first Sunday of each month, April through October.FREE training provided.

Weekend Volunteer Trail Workday projects are a great way to support one of Montgomery Parks most popular facilities. By participating in a volunteer group trail maintenance or construction project you will be helping improve the natural surface trail network for all to enjoy. The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years old, however 13 & 14 year olds may volunteer if an adult family member participates with them. A variety of non-native, invasive plant species are present in Montgomery Parks. By their nature, these plants can take over an area quickly and threaten our native plant communities and the wildlife that depends on them.Join one of our Weed Warrior workdays to learn how you can help control non-native, invasive plants and preserve the health of our parks! Instruction and tools will be provided. Workdays are held in parks throughout the county and are led by volunteer Weed Warrior Supervisors and/or park staff.
