By participating in volunteer group trail maintenance or construction project you will be helping improve the natural surface trail network for all to enjoy. The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years old, however 13 & 14 years old may volunteer if an adult participates with them. We are looking for friendly and outgoing volunteers to engage garden visitors with our mobile plant exlploration cart. We want to enrich our visitor's garden visits with fun hands-on activities and learning experiences, to show them more about the plant world around them. The cart will be moved to different popular plant areas to engage the public. Volunteers are needed during MCPS Spring Break on April 17-19 from 10am-2pm

Brookside Nature Center is once again offering a full summer calendar of week long day camps for children ages 6 through 10, and we can't do it without the help of volunteers! We are looking for camp counselors who love being around kids, being outside, and who want to share their love of nature. These teens will take pride in their role as representatives for the Montgomery Parks Department!With camps starting in the middle of June and running until the middle of August, volunteers can sign up for at least two of our 8 different camps. Here's a list of this years' camps and dates, check them out to see if any fit your schedule and interest!: Trail Buddies Camp: June 10 - 14,June Bug Camp: June 17 - 21, Native Ways Camp: June 24 - 28, Nature's Laboratory: July 8 - July 13, Creek Week: July 15 - July 19, Wild in the Woods: July 28 - August 2,NW Branch Expedition Force: August 5 - August 9. Our mandatory Counselor and Staff Orientation is June 19, from 1 - 4 pm.Volunteer Camp Counselors assist staff throughout the week by helping prepare for each day's activities, supervising the children and leading some activities. Counselors will report to the Senior Camp Counselors and Camp teachers, and volunteer from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Volunteering as a camp counselor is an ideal way to earn SSL hours while gaining experience working with kids and having lots of fun! Thanks for thinking of Montgomery Parks as a place for your Eagle Scout project! Sometimes we have ideas for potential Eagle projects, but the number of Eagle candidates far outnumbers them. We often ask the scout to find a suitable project. Choose a park location that is convenient to you and explore the area to see what amenities you can help create or restore. Park staff will work with you to review your project proposal prior to approval. We are looking for scouts that are good communicators, stick to a schedule and are hardworkers!

Montgomery Parks offers many wonderful programs throughout the year for residents in Montgomery County and beyond. While Park staff and volunteers help run these programs, we also provide support services to individuals with disabilities to encourage their participation in the activities of their choice. Activities can include ice skating, tennis, and a variety of interactive nature and history programs.Inclusion Support Volunteers help us meet this need by modifying activities for individuals with disabilities and facilitating positive social interactions with others.We are currently looking for volunteers to help us with programs located at either an ice rink, a tennis facility, historic site or nature center. A schedule will be worked out with staff, but we are looking for a committment to the duration of the program or season.Volunteers will receive training and placed with programs where and when they are needed.
