Volunteer Weekend Trail Workday projects are a great way to support one of Montgomery Parks most popular facilities.

The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years old, however 13 & 14 year old's may volunteer if an adult family member participates with them.

All Volunteer Trail Workdays are SSL approved.

Montgomery Parks is offering a program sharing the adventures of mountain biking for people who may need adaptive biking equipment, in Little Bennett Regional Park. We couldn't do this without the help of volunteers!

Adaptive Mountain Bike Group Ride volunteers (18 and older) Join our Roots-2-Rocks Mountain biking program as a volunteer guide or sweep and help provide an inclusive outdoor adventure for riders using adaptive power assisted bikes! As a volunteer, you'll accompany participants on group rides, offering support, encouragement, and ensuring safety along the trails.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Guide riders safely through varying terrain.

  • Assist with bike transfers and equipment setup if needed.

  • Offer encouragement and motivation to participants.

  • Communicate with program coordinator and other volunteers to ensure smooth ride progression.

  • Follow and enforce safety guidelines during rides.


Requirements:


  • Must have your own bike and safety gear, including a properly fitted helmet.

  • Comfortable riding on a variety of terrains for at least a 5-8 mile loop.

  • Ability to keep up with riders using power-assist bikes while maintaining a safe, steady group pace ("party pace").

  • Prior experience with adaptive mountain biking is required (must have attended an ambassador training, AMTB event, or AMTB ride).

  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow safety protocols.


Volunteers will be working outdoors and should dress for the weather.

Program starts from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm

Thanks for thinking of Montgomery Parks as a place for your Eagle Scout project!

We often have ideas for potential Eagle projects, but the number of Eagle Scout candidates far outnumbers them. We often require the scout to seek out a suitable project and suggest it to us.

Choose a park location that is convenient to you and explore the area to see which amenities you can help create or restore. Park staff will work with you to review your project proposal prior to approval.

We are looking for scouts that are good communicators, can stick to a schedule and are hard workers!

Cabin John Ice Rink provides a variety of ice skating programs for the public. Children can learn to skate and improve their skills through the group lessons we offer.

Ice Skating Instructional Assistants provide the extra hands necessary to provide high quality instruction and improve student success and enthusiasm for this wonderful sport. Under the supervision of the Cabin John Ice Skating Director, Instructional Assistants are assigned to help Group Lesson Instructors in the "Learn to Skate" program, which include lessons, clinics, and camps.

We are looking for volunteers that can commit to an entire skating season, and are between the ages of 14 and 17.

Wheaton Ice Arena provides a variety of ice skating programs for the public. Adults and children can learn to skate and improve their skills through a variety of group lessons offered at the arena.
