Our guests will be grabbing their dancing shoes and enjoying a night of live music and dancing under the stars! Weekend Volunteer Trail Workday projects are a great way to support one of Montgomery Parks most popular facilities. By participating in a volunteer group trail maintenance or construction project you will be helping improve the natural surface trail network for all to enjoy. The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years old, however 13 & 14 years old may volunteer if an adult participates with them. The Long Branch Festival is a great event and a collaborative partnership of the Long Branch Business League, Montgomery Housing Partnership, Montgomery County Planning, and the Department of Housing and Community Development, with substantial support from Montgomery Parks and Purple Line Transit Partners. Volunteers are needed for this exciting event with many opportunities to give back to your community and earn SSL hours. **VOLUNTEERS SIGN UP BY FOLLOWING THIS LINK**From helping set up the various festival locations, to monitoring areas, answering questions, to working with a sound engineer, there are many chances to serve your community and be a problem solver.Prior to the Festival, Monday, September 16th through Thursday, September 19th, there are many opportunities for painting, construction, and general setup of the festival areas. The festival itself runs from Friday, September 20th to Friday, September 27th, with setup two hours before the first event each day, as well as take down at 9pm each night. Most shifts range from 2 to 3 hours. Please feel free to sign up for as many shifts as works with your schedule. Please note that some volunteer positions have minimum age requirements. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month that runs from Sept. 15 through October 15, Meadowside Nature Center is having a celebration to highlight Central and South American cultures and community. From Noon to 3pm we will have a live band that plays salsa, merengue, and cumbia, as well as food, crafts and games! Join us for this fun mini-festival!Volunteers will help with set-up, crafts and take-down of the event. Volunteers are needed at Montgomery County''s First Annual "Active Aging Week Kick Off Event", where residents 50 years old or better will enjoy an afternoon at Brookside Gardens!
Visitor activities will include walking the trails, activity demonstrations and a vendor area. We need assistance setting up and breaking down the space, monitoring trash & recycling bins, checking in participants and directing them to the various activities. We also need help turning over and modifying our physical activity space for new activities. Volunteers will also help visitors with accessibility. This will be an outdoor event so we are asking volunteers to dress appropriately for the weather.Several shifts are available and this activity is SSL Approved!

Help us celebrate Montgomery County's rich farming heritage at one of the prettiest places in Montgomery Parks, the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood! Visitors to the festival will get to experience what the crafts, games, food and activities where like on a farm from years ago, with help from park staff and volunteers like you!Training, a delicious lunch, t-shirt and breaks will be provided. This will be outside work, rain or shine (tents will be provided). We are looking for outgoing and friendly people, and while all jobs are not physically demanding, they all do require the ability to work on uneven ground. Parks is throwing a party, and we need some help to make it happen! Guests will sip, savor and enjoy an afternoon of craft brews and delicious food. Local breweries will be on hand to showcase their signature beers alongside specifically paired dishes.Volunteers are needed to help keep the designated park areas clean of debris, have ice on hand for each of the breweries, assist our caterers and help with checking in guests. We are looking for volunteers that can handle lifting at least 15 lbs, and up to 35 lbs in some instances. There will be two shifts - 11:30am to 3:30pm; and 3pm to 7pmVolunteers must be 21 or older!

Little Bennett Campground is hosting a spooky Haunted Trail this October, and needs volunteers to help it be the scariest place in the woods! Volunteers will wear costumes and stand at assigned locations and follow a script. Other volunteers will help out behind the scenes. There will be an orientation before the trail opens to the campground guests.This is SSL approved.Volunteers should dress for the weather, and cooler temps in the evening. We are looking for folks to wear costumes -and bring their own flashlights. Wear shoes that can get muddy!

Wheaton Indoor Tennis is proud to partner with ACEing Autism to serve up an amazing tennis curriculum! Directed by our teaching pro, volunteers will be paired with kids on the autism spectrum (ages 6-12 and 13-18). The program helps kids develop coordination, confidence, and social skills through on-court activities that emphasize taking turns, working in teams and following instruction. Volunteers receive training prior to first class. Tennis experience is helpful but not necessary. Must enjoy working with kids and have high energy. Special education background a plus!We are seeking mature 15 year olds/high school freshman and older.Success of this program depends upon consistent pairing of volunteers and participants each week. It is often up to the scout to find a suitable project. We suggest you explore the area to see what amenities you can help create or restore. Park staff will work with you to review your project proposal prior to approval.

We often ask the scout to find a suitable project. Choose a park location that is convenient to you and explore the area to see what amenities you can help create or restore. Park staff will work with you to review your project proposal prior to approval. We are looking for scouts that are good communicators, stick to a schedule and are hardworkers!
Are you a group leader looking to do some Team Building, have your group give back to the environment, or just them get out in the parks? We can help you with that!
