Program Access, which provides inclusion services for individuals with disabilities throughout Montgomery Parks, is looking for volunteers to assist us with Meaningful Day programs. These programs serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities during weekdays. Activities currently include bocce, hiking, and social activities. Join us in recognizing Earth Day through a volunteer park cleanup at Black Hill Discovery Center. Help us beautify your community green spaces, keep litter out of our streams, and protect the wildlife at the Black Hill Regional Park. Whether you are looking for SSL hours or just want to spend the day giving back, you won't believe how good it feels to be a good steward! Parents must accompany children under 14. Volunteers are needed to help maintain the beautiful Black Hill Discovery Center Display Gardens. These include: a rain garden/hummingbird garden; a raised-bed butterfly garden; a raised-bed pollinator garden; a fern garden; a Monarch Waystation garden; a log garden; and garden areas around a small pond. Volunteers work as a group Tuesday mornings for a couple of hours, beginning May 5th and ending September 28. Gardening experience is preferred, but not required. Training will be offered.Orientation and Interviews will be conducted in April. We will have a Volunteer Q&A table set up at our Garden Day event on Sunday, April 12 11am to 2pm.

Are you a group leader looking to do some Team Building, have your group give back to the environment, or just them get out in the parks? We can help you with that! Park Police Volunteer help keep parks safe by providing additional eyes and ears for the Park Police. Volunteers are trained in non-enforcement police duties that include foot, vehicle, horse or bike patrol; traffic control; parking; community events; and outreach programs. Black Hill Regional Park has a yearly native plant sale, and we need your help! We need friendly and helpful volunteers to direct our customers to the correct places and to run plants to customer vehicles.Customer service experience is preferred but not required. Our veteran plant sale volunteers will train new volunteers! We have 3-4 hour shifts to choose from on Saturday AND Sunday. Please see shift options below.Gloves and wagons to move plants will be provided.Approved for SSL, forms will be provided at the end of the event.

By their nature, these plants can take over an area quickly and threaten our native plant communities and the wildlife that depends on them.Join one of our Weed Warrior workday events to learn how you can help control non-native, invasive plants and preserve the health of our parks! Instruction and tools will be provided. Events are held in parks throughout the county and are led by volunteer Weed Warrior Supervisors and/or park staff.
