Nature Center Hosts are the first face a guest will see when they visit the nature center, and set the tone for their experience with the nature in and outside of the center. Volunteers in this role regularly interact with people as a welcoming and warm greeter; a resource for purposeful information; and a bridge to the Park's exhibits, flora and fauna, and staff. They also help to maintain a welcoming environment by keeping exhibits tidy and offering nature-based pop-up activities for guests to enjoy.
The role:
- Greet visitors.
- Check people in for programs.
- Learn about the program offerings, resources, and interpretation.
- Answer visitor or telephone inquiries or direct to appropriate staff.
- Occasionally help with office administrative work, computer work, and program/exhibit preparation.
- Water plants and outdoor gardens.
- May include picking up indoor/outdoor playspaces during shift.
- Assist staff in emergency situations.

Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- Background Check Required
- Ability to commit to a pre-arranged schedule.
- Volunteer shirt and nametag required for shift. Items will be provided by the nature center.
The commitment:
- Shifts are available Mon thru Sat
- Shifts are two hours long between 11am and 3pm daily; shifts in varying hours may occasionally be available for special events
- Year-round volunteering
- Primarily indoors
- 6 month minimum, 1-year preferred
Training:Nature Center Hosts will be asked to take online training and attend an in-person workshop. Their first shift or two may be supervised by a staff member to provide additional coaching and support.
