Join us in a volunteer park cleanup at Black Hill Discovery Center. Help us beautify your community green spaces, keep litter out of our streams, and protect the wildlife at the Black Hill Regional Park. Whether you are looking for SSL hours or just want to spend the day giving back, you won't believe how good it feels to be a good steward! Parents must accompany children 14 and under. Volunteers are needed at Montgomery County's Annual "Active Aging Week Kick-Off Event", where residents 55 years old or better can enjoy a day at the North Potomac Community Center doing all sorts of fun activities!There are two shifts:7:45 AM- 12 PM: Volunteers will help with set up including moving tables and chairs, setting up signage, parking, assisting with checking-in guests, handing out Fit Kits, acting as Walk Guides, acting as Activity Assistants / Room Monitors, taking regular attendance during sessions11:30 AM - 2:45 PM: Volunteers will help with lunch support, acting as Walk Guides, breaking down/cleaning, including moving tables and chairs.Volunteers who speak Mandarin or Spanish are encouraged to sign-up!Volunteers will mostly be working indoors. Please dress for comfort. A volunteer tee shirt will be provided. Refreshments will be available. Lunch will be available for full-day volunteers.Volunteers are permitted to work the morning shift and participate in afternoon activities. Thanks for thinking of Montgomery Parks as a place for your Eagle Scout project! We often have ideas for potential Eagle projects, but the number of Eagle Scout candidates far outnumbers them. We often require the scout to seek out a suitable project and suggest it to us. Choose a park location that is convenient to you and explore the area to see which amenities you can help create or restore. Park staff will work with you to review your project proposal prior to approval. Volunteer at Brookside Gardens' annual Garden of Lights display. The walk-through display features lighting installations throughout the Gardens using over one million LED lights. Volunteers will assist at the Information Desk within our Visitor Center in an indoor environment. We are seeking individuals who are friendly and personable, with a commitment to ensuring guests have an exceptional experience during their visit. Comprehensive training will be provided, and scheduling will be coordinated to facilitate individual training sessions with staff. Upon completion of training, volunteers will have access to an online calendar system to select their shifts. A minimum commitment of three shifts during the event is required of all volunteers.The exhibit is scheduled from November 21 to January 4 and operates every evening, except for closures on November 24-27, December 24-25, and January 1. Evening shifts are from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Monday through Sunday.

All Aboard! Brookside Gardens is seeking volunteers for the Garden Railway exhibit in the Conservatory. We're looking for individuals who enjoy engaging with a diverse group of visitors to enhance their experience. The exhibit is scheduled from November 29 to January 4 and operates every day, except for closures on December 24-25. Shifts are from 10am to 1pm and 1 to 4pm. A minimum commitment of two shifts during the event is required of all volunteers.

Volunteers will help pass out and collect pencils for our guests' Eye Spy Cards, before and after they ride the train.Family-friendly (NOT SCARY) costumes are required!The train will be running Saturdays and Sundays in October. There will be two shifts each day: 9:15am to 1:00 pm; or 1:00 pm to 4:45 pm.**Please only sign up for one shift per day!**Volunteers need to be 14 and older (no exceptions!). This activity is outdoors, and Student Service Learning approved. A confirmation letter with an event contact number and more details will be emailed after you are confirmed as coming. ***Eye Spy Train will be cancelled if it rains, and/or tracks are still wet***

Little Bennett Campground is hosting a spooky Haunted Trail and Magic Pumpkin Patch this Fall, and needs volunteers to help it be the spookiest place in the woods!
We have 4 ways you can help us! See choices below, and choose the shift(s) that work best for you. 1. Decorate Camp Store, Booth & Trail (Sept. 22, 23, 24, Mon./Tues./Weds.) (3-6pm.) Help us decorate for Halloween in the building, around the campground, and on the haunted trail.2. Haunted Trail Set Up (Sept. 30, October 1 & 2 Tues./Weds./Thurs.) (3-6pm.)Help us set up the stations on the haunted trail. Could include carrying supplies, setting up tents, hanging props in trees, and staging scenes.

Help us celebrate Montgomery County's rich farming heritage at one of the prettiest places in Montgomery Parks, the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood! Visitors to the festival will get to experience what the crafts, games, food and activities were like on a farm from years ago, with help from park staff and volunteers like you! Volunteers will help their assigned station leader in showing our guests how to make candles, wash laundry, create tin art and many more fun things!Training, a delicious lunch, t-shirt and breaks will be provided. This will be outside work, rain or shine (tents will be provided). It's almost Fall and time for the Harvest Festival at our Agricultural History Farm Park!Volunteer Captains help us on the big day with special activities related to farm life in the past (candle dipping, historic games, clothes washing, etc.). Other volunteers will be assigned to each station to assist.The Harvest Festival is rain or shine. Schedule is 9am-4:30pm. Looking for volunteers 17 and older!

By their nature, these plants can take over an area quickly and threaten our native plant communities and the wildlife that depends on them.Join one of our Weed Warrior workday events to learn how you can help control non-native, invasive plants and preserve the health of our parks! Instruction and tools will be provided. Events are held in parks throughout the county and are led by volunteer Weed Warrior Supervisors and/or park staff. See event description for exact locations, times and meeting points.Each volunteer must register separately with their own account.Most events are for ages 16+.
